Oskar used to be Marco’s best friend. His everything. His sunshine yellow.

But that was before. Before Marco stopped being a hot jock. Before he learned to live with scars and pain. And before Oskar tore their friendship apart.

Now the boy next door has returned home, determined to rekindle his friendship with Marco, and Marco’s more afraid than ever. Afraid of getting hurt. Afraid of being humiliated.

Afraid of falling in love.

Can Oskar find a way through Marco’s fear, back into his heart?

"True Colors" is an enemies to lovers, boy next door, first time, slow burn M/M romance with a generous helping of UST. This no-cliffhanger, HEA book can be read as a standalone.

True Colors (True Love) (Volume 2) (9781544098234) Anyta Sunday Books Reviews

I love Anyta when she takes that slow path to love. This was wonderful, angsty, emotional, and so very satisfying.
I rarely find M/M romances worth a 5-star rating, but this is definitely one of them. I loved the slow-burn romance, starting in bitter-sweet melancholy and ending in optimistic Sunglow Yellow. The setting in Berlin, Germany also worked well for this novel. Anyta captured the European attiitude towards gay people well - on the surface more liberal than in the US, but underneath much the same struggle.
Very well developed plot and very humorous at times. Usually I shy away from stories about pining away for someone for years. But since I love Anyta's other books I gave this a try. Very true to her style and it felt very realistic. Both young men had moved on in their own way, and it took a bit of effort to find their way back.
Marco and Oskar were best friends and secretly in love with each other. They were in a path for happiness, until those sic words were spoken.

Anyta did a great job expressing the body image issue Marco has; burn scars on his body. You feel his pain as he relives the second worst day of his life - losing his best friend, and then the steps to salvage what was lost and rebuild.

Oskar was determined to get his friendship back with Marco. I'm glad Anyta decided to do a proper book treatment with a secondary Bottle Boys character. 4.0 for handmade gifts.
Man I continue to be amazed by how Anyta Sunday's books make me feel. I'm very into the slow burn angst that she's able to just bring so much depth to with how complex her characters are. I always get sucked into the emotion of her books and True Colors was no different. I could FEEL the betrayal that Marco went through with Oskar and I loved seeing the gradual change in his mindset as they rekindled their friendship. I loved how this was slowly handled as well, since what was done was not so easily forgiven to be sure. But they worked through it in a reasonable and realistic manner and that I appreciated highly. And damn am I a sucker for a childhood friends turned lovers storyline. All in all I supremely enjoyed this book. I felt so much when reading it and just loved it a ton. Give it a try if you love childhood friends or enemies to lovers, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Anyta Sunday is one of my favourite authors, and I particularly enjoy her enemies to lovers stories. 'True Colors' is another gem in this genre from her. The story of Oskar and Marko is a mixture of emotions there is sadness, guilt, heartbreak and fear, but ultimately the prevailing emotion of love shines through. Ms Sunday tells a story of how emotional scars can often be more damaging and more lasting that physical ones. My four star review is based on the following great plot, good writing and editing, strong characters that have depth, and story takes the reader on an emotional roller coaster. Highly recommended read.
This story was so emotional. I cried through most of it. The author really made me feel Marco's pain, and I love that. I love when an author doesn't just tell me what the characters are feeling but makes me feel it too.

I'm usually not so impressed with slow burn stories. I like all the mushy stuff and slow burn stories usually end right after the I love you's have been said. However, I was completely satisfied with how that book ended.

Also, I realize that this is not the first book in this series, and I haven't read True Luck yet. Usually I hate reading out of turn and if I do by accident I can tell that there are things I'm missing and it bothers me through the entire book, however, I didn't feel like that with this story. At no point in reading this did I feel like I should stop and go back to read the other story first.

I truly enjoyed this story, loved the characters, and can't wait to read the other story in this series.
Damn, I am not sure I would have been able to forgive Oskar, either. Very slow burn tale of boys who grew up together but because of a hurtful incident borne out of peer pressure, stupidity and all the dumb stuff teens do, they are no longer close. The things said as kids, teens, etc stay with us well into adulthood. This was done so well. Anyta's magical writing infused with feelings of love, hurt, family was such a winner for me. Oskar and Marco are surrounded by a wonderful group of friends and family and to take in all of the surrounding stories - Zoe's boyfriend, Ben's thing with Sebastian (and I still don't quite get that whole bottle collection thing), the Richter's feelings about Oskar, Andre's feelings about what he did to Oskar and Marco - all of these ongoing things that happen while we are centered on what's happening with Oskar and Marco - it's just like life and it was captured brilliantly. Marco, who sees himself, his friends and life in general through color is so vividly portrayed. His struggle with his sexuality, his desire to be loved but hesitates because of what happened, his desire to reconcile with Oskar and more but is held back by the hurt - what a wonderful character. Now Oskar - took a lot for me to trust and still not sure I'd forgive as I said but in life, we do have to move on and forgive those who've hurt us. As with all of Anyta's books, I fall into this well of words and feelings and forget I am reading. It's like living with this group of family and friends and watching things transpire. This took me a while to read because I was in savor mode... I'd read a little and then think about what I'd read. Then read some more and re-read passages. I didn't read True Love #1 but will backtrack and bump that up my tbr.
